Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions we get from families about therapy. If you don’t see your question answered below, contact us.

  • Online therapy, also known as teletherapy, offers psychological interventions and support via the internet. This process typically involves a client and a therapist communicating through a digital platform which can be in the form of video conferencing, voice messaging, or text messaging.

We utilize Simple Practice, a HIPAA compliant, video conferencing telehealth platform. You will receive a link to log into your sessions 24 hours and 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. The conversations in these sessions are confidential, secure, and fall within the ethical guidelines of therapy, similar to traditional in-person sessions.

  • At this time we ae only offering telehealth sessions. Numerous studies have found online therapy to be as beneficial as in-person therapy for many mental health issues, while offering advantages like flexibility, convenience, and ease of access for those living in remote areas or struggling with mobility issues.

  • We accept commercial Anthem BCBS plans and private pay. Our individual therapy session fee is $175 (50 minutes); family sessions are $200 (60 minutes) and $225 (90 minutes). This fee is designed to ensure you receive premium service and attention from our highly experienced, licensed professionals. We are committed to providing holistic, personalized therapeutic sessions to foster your mental wellness.

If you have insurance, you may be eligible for reimbursement, according to your 'out of network' benefits has a number of advantages:

    1. Choice of Therapist: You are not limited to choosing a therapist within your insurance network and can thus select a specialist whose expertise matches your specific needs.

    2. Privacy: Insurances often require documentation of your diagnosis and treatment plans. Using out-of-network benefits reduces the amount of information shared, providing more privacy around your therapy process.

    3. Control over Treatment: Insurance companies often dictate the number and frequency of sessions. When using out-of-network benefits, you and your therapist solely determine the length and course of your treatment.

Nevertheless, it's crucial to verify your out-of-network benefits with the insurance company, understanding the specifics regarding deductibles, reimbursement rates, and the process to apply for reimbursement.

  • After selecting a platform and therapist that suits your requirements, the first step generally involves an initial assessment. In this stage, the therapist collects information about your mental health history, current struggles or concerns, and therapy goals. This helps shape the future sessions and contributes to creating a detailed treatment plan customized for you.

  • The duration of therapy can greatly vary, depending on individual factors like the nature of the issue being addressed, how long it's been present, and how quickly a client is able to make progress. Some people see improvement after a few sessions, while others might require longer. Your therapist will work with you to define goals and will continually assess your progress in meeting these goals.

However, it is important to know that Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), one of the therapies that we offer, is widely recognized for its effectiveness in treating trauma and is often a quicker treatment method compared to traditional therapy processes. With EMDR, many clients start noticing significant improvement within 6 to 12 sessions, though this can also vary depending on the individual and the complexity of their trauma.

Still, the timing should not be forced, and treatment should continue as long as you and your therapist believe you are making beneficial progress. Remember that therapy is not a race, and we are here to provide the best care for your unique needs, taking as long as necessary to promote your well-being.
